In Loving Memory |
On July 4, 2010 Paolo Weatherbee, whose art appeared on the very first Mountain Stomp poster and website, passed away at Mountain Stomp. Although we are all saddened and shocked by his loss we wanted everyone who was in attendance that day to know that we couldn't have planned a better last day for our friend. The night before he died, Paolo played his last gig with his band, The Headless Human Clones, of which his childhood friend Dave Hopkins is a part. Music and nature were two of the most important things to Paolo-- and Mountain Stomp and all of the people there provided Paolo with so much of what he loved. Just before he passed on, he said, "This is so fun!" He was sitting in front of the main stage with his fiance, Tory Shirley on one side, and one of his closest friends, Dan Coleman on the other. They were watching Twisted Whistle, the band that was playing when Paolo and Tory had their first official date together. It was one of those perfect days, the migrating Swallowtail Butterflies were flitting in pairs through the field with the cottonwood trees shedding their seeds, illuminated by sunshine like a magical and warm Summer snow storm. Niayh's bus overlooked the scene, a profound and constant reminder that "Now Is All You Have." The day was as beautiful as Paolo's spirit and the outpouring of love, respect and heart-felt music sent Paolo home on Independence Day, in a manner perfectly befitting of such a gentle soul. On behalf of Paolo's loved ones, thank you for helping Paolo's transition from this world be one filled with peace, joy and love.
A memorial celebration, and benefit to help Paolo's family with funeral expenses, will be held at The Bossanova Ballroom, which Mountain Stomp production manager Ronnie Hartley has graciously offered to donate for the event. Please check back here for the date which will be posted soon. If you would like to donate your time and/or talent to the memorial, please get in touch-- this is so sudden, we're not even sure who to tell you to get in touch with yet, but will post that soon as well.

How about a little HISTORY |
When Brian Cooper started going to the Oregon Country Fair, he found Zumwalt's campground as his home during the annual event held the weekend after the 4th of July weekend.
As his party at Zumwalt's grew, Brian turned his eye to the financial needs of the Lane county run park. The campground became Brian's pet project and he started raising funds to help the Friends of Zumwalt Park with the upkeep of his beloved fair-time home.
Fast-forward a few years and the party at Zumwalt's has grown too big for the campground so Brian decided to take the party to the next step. Calling on years of experience from his days in the Portland late night scene and adding the experience of Chamberlain Event Services' owner, Matt, they started Peach Jam Productions LLC.
Our good friend Peacock introduced us to Prindel Creek Farm and Mountain Stomp was born.
